What follows is the translation of Amid Zanjanis book entitled Fiqh-e Siyasi dealing with the development of political Fiqh and the issue of leadership in Islam. The first part discusses the meaning of Shari'ah and Fiqh. Fiqh and secular laws, kinds of religious injunctions, and a brief history of the compilation of Fiqh in the Sunni and Shi'ah Muslim schools.

The second part deals with the development of Shi'ah Muslim Fiqh, the classification of Fiqh, and issues in both Sunni and Shi'ah Muslim schools of thought. In the next chapters, the author embarks upon political Fiqh, bringing forth the sources in the Sunni and Shi'ah Muslim world. Then he puts forward three theories on wilayat-e faqih in the 20th Century.
