Part Five
Divine Leaders
Imamat
Successors Of The Prophet
The successors of the Prophet who had been guiding the people after him, are called Imams (leaders).
We have twelve Imams. Their names are:
1. Imam Ali (P.B.U.H.)
2. Imam Hassan (P.B.U.H.)
3. Imam Hussayn (P.B.U.H.)
4. Imam Ali Zaynul 'Abedin (P.B.U.H.)
5. Imam Muhammad Baqir (P.B.U.H.)
6. Imam Ja'far Al Sadiq (P.B.U.H.)
7. Imam Musa Al Kazim (P.B.U.H.)
8. Imam Ali Reza (P.B.U.H.)
9. Imam Muhammad Taqi (P.B.U.H.)
10. Imam Ali Al Naqi (P.B.U.H.)
11. Imam Hassan Al Askari (P.B.U.H.)
12. Imam Muhammad Al Mahdi (P.B.U.H.).
He is also called the Imam of the time.
Our Imams wanted the happiness and the prosperity of the people. They worked and suffered very much to guide the people.
They offered great sacrifices for this purpose. Some of them even tried to save Islam from its enemies at the risk of their own lives and the lives of their family members. The sayings and the manners of the Imams are the best examples to follow in life.
In the previous book we learned about the first three Imams: Imam Ali, Hassan and Hussayn (Peace Be Upon Them). This time we shall learn about the fourth, fifth, sixth, and the seventh Imams.
